Mr. Arita formed Praxis, LP in 1992; a subsidiary of DataHouse Holdings Corp. (DataHouse). In 2000, the company began doing business as TeamPraxis. From the earliest days of the company’s life, Mr. Arita recognized the power technology had to improve the quality of patient care and reduce healthcare costs.
Utilizing the experience gained while he was an executive vice president at the investment consulting firm Cadinha & Co., LLC, and the extensive expertise in information technology that grew from his years at DataHouse, Mr. Arita has made innovation and enterprise the hallmarks of TeamPraxis.
Today, TeamPraxis is poised as a change agent for Hawaii’s healthcare industry, transforming the way individual physicians do business by using technology to enable more personalized healthcare.
“It’s a matter of being able to see beyond the horizon,” says Mr. Arita. “Here at TeamPraxis, my responsibilities are to anticipate change and emerging trends, realize the full potential of evolving technology, understand the needs of individual healthcare providers and integrate that knowledge to create products and services to best meet the needs of our clients.”
Mr. Arita holds a bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, and economics, and a master's degree in business administration and strategic planning from the University of California at Berkeley.
Ms. Maruyama has been with TeamPraxis for two years, joining the company after six years of directing sales and marketing efforts for parent company, DataHouse.
As the vice president of client relations, she oversees everything from the initial installation of hardware and software to conducting post-implementation assessments, ensuring that clients realize the full potential of their investment. She is also project manager for the electronic health records initiative and is actively involved in the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative, an innovative government strategy to improve healthcare outcomes through the use of technology and data collection. Ms. Maruyama also shares responsibility for investor relations.
“It’s my job to stay 10 steps ahead of the game,” says Ms. Maruyama. “ I need to anticipate what client needs are and fix potential problems before they happen. Here at TeamPraxis, it’s all about being responsive, seeing our clients on a regular basis and being 100 percent committed to their success. What’s unique about TeamPraxis is that we provide our clients local support, when they need it and where they need it.”
Prior to joining DataHouse, Ms. Maruyama worked in telecommunications at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UH). A graduate of UH, she has a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
Mr. Uranaka joined TeamPraxis in January 2007, after 29 years with parent company, DataHouse. At DataHouse, Mr. Uranaka held the position of chief operating officer and vice president, responsible for day-to-day operations and resource and financial management. At TeamPraxis, Mr. Uranaka oversees research and development, and manages the financial resources of TeamPraxis.
His vision for TeamPraxis is a bold one: “I want us to become a national player in the healthcare industry,” says Mr. Uranaka. “Our healthcare intellectual property is so advanced that I believe we can become a nationally renowned model for transforming healthcare through the use of technology. Here at home, that same technology enables us to provide Hawaii physicians the very best community integrated practice management and electronic health record systems.”
Mr. Uranaka is a graduate of the University of Hawaii and holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
Ms. Shigeta-Rosa has been with TeamPraxis since the company’s founding in 1992. As the COO of TeamPraxis, she is one of the primary architects of the company’s business development and long-term planning strategies. Ms. Shigeta-Rosa oversees the company’s core functions including claims filing, reimbursement management, patient billing, payment processing, and compliance governance. Ms. Shigeta-Rosa has played an integral role in TeamPraxis’ expansion, thanks to her more than 25 years of experience in healthcare management.
“I view my top priority as ensuring that we continually perform at a level which meets our clients and our own expectations,” says Ms. Shigeta-Rosa. “From the allocation of resources within the company, to researching systems and processes that will enable us to better serve our physicians, we’re always striving for quality and efficiency.”
Prior to joining TeamPraxis, Ms. Shigeta-Rosa was the financial aid director for the Med-Assist School of Hawaii and also worked in front-office operations for Doctor's on Call, an urgent-care facility.
Mr. Tsoi has been with TeamPraxis since November 1998. As chief information officer, he is responsible for network administration, software support, and research and development. Mr. Tsoi oversees the network infrastructure, delivery of services to customers, technical support operations, and other system administration support.
“It’s vital that we offer our physicians safe, secure, and reliable systems and support,” says Mr. Tsoi. “At TeamPraxis, we’re proud to provide physicians not only the most current technology, but technical support that is responsive and available whenever help is needed.”
Prior to joining TeamPraxis, Mr. Tsoi was responsible for application development, network management and software support for the environmental engineering firm Earth Tech, a Tyco International Ltd. Company. He also spent two years in the Hawaii offices of Bank of America, N.A., providing network support and training. Mr. Tsoi brings more than 11 years of experience in network management, information technology and system training to TeamPraxis.
Mr. Tsoi received a Bachelor of Science in information systems and computer science from Brigham Young University Hawaii.
Ms. Hinck joined TeamPraxis as the chief financial officer in May 2007. Her responsibilities include accounting and administration support.

As TeamPraxis expands its network of physicians and the services provided to the medical community, the company looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that come with it,” says Ms. Hinck. “My mission at TeamPraxis is to insure that a solid internal infrastructure is provided in support of that mission and in achieving the rapid advances being made by TeamPraxis in its service to the healthcare industry.”
Ms. Hinck, a certified public accountant, has more than 20 years of experience in accounting, financial operations and tax consulting. Prior to joining TeamPraxis, she served as the assistant operations and financial controller at Kamehameha Schools, and previously as the financial asset division operations manager. She has also worked as a senior tax consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers and as a senior tax specialist at KPMG International.
Ms. Hinck holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Ms. Miyashiro joined TeamPraxis in January 2005, bringing nine years of human resources experience. In her current capacity, she oversees the human resources department. Ms. Miyashiro is responsible for employee recruitment and retention, training, benefit administration, payroll, and state and federal regulatory compliance.
“People and teamwork make all of the difference at TeamPraxis,” says Ms. Miyashiro. “One of our fundamental responsibilities in human resources is to ensure that our employees have an optimum work environment, appropriate compensation, and the tools, training and opportunities required to excel. It’s how we work best for our clients.”
Prior to joining TeamPraxis, Ms. Miyashiro worked for Dayton Hudson Corp., later renamed Target Corporation, overseeing the human resource department in Boulder, CO. Preceding DHC, she oversaw the payroll process for 14 entities at Roberts Hawaii.
Ms. Miyashiro graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in business administration with an emphasis on sales and marketing. She also has a minor in speech communication.
